Home Depot “The Eco Options Holiday Light Exchange” is back for 2009 Holiday season. Every year Home Depot runs a incandescent Christmas light exchange program in which customers can bring in their incandescent light strings and get 50% off of the purchase of select light emitting diode (LED) strings.
The LED lights are 95% more energy efficient than incandescent holiday lights, therefore, you will save energy and money. The LED lights have about twenty years of life span. Furthermore, the LED lights do not heat up making them safer option for holiday lighting.
For each old incandescent holiday light string you bring to any Home Depot on November 7th and 8th between 10AM – 5PM (where open), you will receive an instant rebate coupon for 50% off of up to 5 new strings of energy efficient Seasonal L.E.D. lights.
Home Depot collected over 163,000 incandescent strings in 2008. That equates to a reduction of 2,380,156 kWh that is enough electricity to power 213 homes for one year. It is equivalent to 718 tonnes of greenhouse gases abatement.
